Working at Encompass

  • We cannot do this important work without strong relationships built on trust and shared commitment. We celebrate growth and each other. We focus on small daily wins, knowing that consistency is more important than intensity for long-term, sustainable excellence and continuous momentum. To have courageous conversations, embrace our policies, and pursue our vision, we must first trust and care for one another. Education is hard work, and it is at its best when we face it together, leaning on each other, supporting each other, and growing as a team.

By working together, sharing ideas, supporting one another, and learning from each other, we create the best possible environment for our learners to thrive. No one succeeds alone, and every voice matters.

  • We see infinite potential in every learner. This belief is the foundation of every interaction and instructional decision, driving us to ensure ALL learners thrive.

  • We believe excellence is an infinite pursuit. We actively seek feedback, use data to refine our practices, and always strive to be better than we were yesterday. We have the capacity to objectively assess our own practice and perspectives. We engage in thoughtful conversations about new policies, feedback, and initiatives with an open mind.

We do not use coaching and feedback as a form of micromanagement. We use them because we believe everyone deserves to grow, and meaningful growth only happens through intentional coaching and collaboration. And also because research backs this up! This requires a deep belief in the power of feedback, self-reflection, and celebrating progress. Without that shared belief, coaching can be misinterpreted as a lack of trust or a threat to autonomy. If you are looking for a school where teachers are largely left alone, Encompass is not the right fit.

If you are excited about celebrating success and growing as a team, we might be a good fit!

  • We believe that caring for ourselves is essential to caring well for our learners. We encourage healthy boundaries and sustainable practices that allow our educators to remain energized, present, and effective. At the same time, we hold a shared commitment to meeting our responsibilities to learners, families, and one another. At our school, self-care and accountability are not in tension..they work together to ensure our learners receive the consistent, high-quality education they deserve.

  • We bring the joy! We actively work to ensure learners love coming to school and maintain a culture of kindness and respect.

  • We proactively seek solutions and understanding rather than dwelling on problems. When something feels off or becomes a problem, we don’t let it fester or allow unverified narratives about others to take root. Instead, we speak up. We are intentional and transparent about raising concerns, asking questions, and naming what we don’t yet understand. We operate from a place of trust, assuming positive intent and shared commitment to our teammates, learners, and community. This takes some mental work to think like this!

  • We do not "wing it." We believe our learners deserve and our staff needs the confidence of strong instruction, which requires rigorous and thoughtful preparation before stepping into the classroom.

We actively and willingly disrupt cycles of low academic achievement. We view this as a core part of our job and a collective responsibility, rolling up our sleeves to ensure learner success.

When learner performance is low, our first step is to reflect on our own teaching practice—how we can approach the learner, the content, or the questioning differently to ensure their mastery. In order to deliver on our promise to learners and families, we must have a clear understanding of what we are teaching, how we are teaching it, and why it matters. This requires intentional intellectual preparation, reviewing and internalizing lessons, creating exemplars, and fully preparing before we step in front of learners.

  • We recognize that, especially early in your career, there is often a need to work beyond contracted hours. We deeply appreciate this dedication, as it is sometimes necessary to provide the high-quality education our learners deserve and to support your own professional growth.

Given the way schools are structured, there is never enough time in the day. Occasionally, this means staying beyond your contracted hours to attend meetings, call families, prepare lessons, or complete grading.
